Feeling glamorous!

March 13th, 2008 at 08:53 pm

I went back to the Beauty School yesterday and had my hair highlighted and cut for a grand total of $33 + tip.

I love it!

Hopefully I can find another beauty school to visit after I move.

What kind of highlighting did you get? $33 is a fantastic price for cut & highlights.

1/2 head of foils. I went to an Empire Beauty School. The prices are standard across the country, maybe there's one in your area. Typically highlights are $30, but on Wednesdays it's 20% off. Haircuts are only $5! I've also been for a $6 manicure. I love the place!!

We take the kids there for haircuts - priced by age. Paid $6 for the 2 last time.

It's fine for them, and probably dh, but not sure I would brave my hair there. LOL. For the cut I mean. (The do wonders with the kids, but the cuts aren't great and they are very slow. So it scares me what they would do to my more complicated hair, though you can pay more for experience). I hear they are great for highlights and such though. My friend swears by it.

I love Beauty School! Great on the pocket book. Some of my friends have spa days there too.

Monkeymama- I imagine it depends on your stylist. I've been going back to the same girl and she's great! Every class has a star, right? I did notice the student stylist in the chair behind mine seems less confident and kept asking for guidance with the layers.

Looks like they aren't in my area. A friend with really complicated curly-frizzy hair went to a cosmetology school last year and got a great cut. The dye however was fashionably burgundy, but not what she wanted.
