Reality: Food prices are already rising here much faster than the returns you are likely to get from keeping your money in a bank or money-market fund. And there are very good reasons to believe prices on the shelves are about to start rising a lot faster.

Makes sense. Talk about changing the way I grocery shop. I'm really not a stockpiler of anything. I really should try to change my ways...looks like now might be a very good time.

I'm stocking up on rice. DH heard on the news that there isn't enough of it in silcone valley and other areas as well are rationing it.

There goes the price of take-out Chinese food. Costco and BJ's are already limiting the amount of rice you can buy on my neck of the woods.

They say that there is not necessarily going to be a shortage here, but the prices will rise. The reason why Costco's are limiting it is because restaurants who use alot of rice will hoard it.

When I was in 2 grocery stores the other day, I couldn't believe how fast the rice was disappearing. Alot of people had 10 and 20 lb bags in their carts. It never hurts to buy someting at a lower price rather than later on when it will be high.
