Challenge Update

My Wednesday night babysitting job was cancelled due to bad weather, but I babysat last night and made $60.

Old Total: $679.27
+ $60 babysitting
-------------------------
New Total: $739.27

I've sold 2 things on eBay, but I'm going to wait until after I can mail them so I know the exact shipping cost.

We have 10 people coming over for brunch in a few hours-- I need to get moving!

    I remember baby-sitting AND cleaning for $1.00 an hour!

    I remember getting $2.50 an hour when I was in junior high / high school (but that was 12-15 years ago). This family pays me $10 / hour. In general, babysitting for less than $10 / hr isn't worth my time. I think it pays to know what you are worth. If your determination is fair and accurate, people will be willing to pay for it (as is evidenced by this family that uses me every Wednesday and Saturday). This is not in reference to the previous comments as these remarks are looking back in time, but in broad terms, I think that as women we often UNDERVALUE our worth. Hmm, perhaps that would be a interesting topic for a future blog entry!

    I think baby-sitters should get $10 an hour. They're doing a very important job.
